Cyberpunk 2077

Games Like Witcher 3

The first game on this list of Games Like Witcher 3 is Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 is also a forthcoming title from CD Projekt RED that will be a big game in the open world.

It has a futuristic atmosphere, as the name implies, where weapons and cars are both distinct.

It’s also been claimed each side quest would also feel like its own plot, which means the game is going to be pretty big. Even the gaming trailer they revealed only to demonstrate “a little” happens to be 48 minutes long on what cyberpunk is like.

Since it was revealed several years ago by the developers, there is a lot of expectation and hype for it. It’s certainly a game that I’ll be playing in the future. Games Like Cyberpunk 2077.

Games like Witcher 3

Next Game Like Witcher 3 is Skyrim. Anytime you equate Witcher 3 to every other title, Skyrim is certainly going to be one of the best contenders.

Skyrim is an all-time favourite open world RPG created by Bethesda that has a mediaeval and fantasy atmosphere. Only look at the amount of mods for this game that are available and you’ll know how popular it is. Memes based on Skyrim were also produced there.

You play as a Dragonborn in this game, i.e. someone who has the power to battle and kill dragons, actually. Apart from the melee or ranged weapons you possess, you even come loaded with magic spells.

The number of side quests that keep you playing for hours is what sets Skyrim apart from many open-world titles. While the main storey is not that long, you will continue to play the game only doing side storeys, and each side quest is well completed (not just regular fetch quests).

Red Dead Redemption 2

Games like Witcher 3

With Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar set their sights on catching the spirit of the first Red Dead Redemption and was able to produce a satisfactory sequel.

In the role of Arthur Morgan, a gun-toting cowboy outlaw who is constantly forced to make difficult choices throughout the 35+ hour-long plot of the game, players are given control over a dynamic protagonist, comparable to The Witcher 3.

The game offers a stunningly complex open-world where both figuratively and physically, any action holds a hefty amount of weight.

Although some pieces may sound a little repetitive, such as the unnecessarily long animal-skinning animation, these tiny details bring a greater sense of reality to its setting.

If you liked navigating the vast landscapes and beautifully designed storyline of The Witcher 3, odds are you’ll love the classic Wild West setting of Red Dead 2.

Fallout 4

Next Games Like Witcher 3 is Fallout 4. Fallout 4 is another open-world title that is worth noting. However others may choose New Vegas. Both are safe choices to try out.

Bethesda, too has a post-apocalyptic world instead of a mediaeval one in this game. The fallout almost applies to the nuclear war that destroyed most of the living creatures when the Vault was covered by certain chosen human beings.

The aftermath of the fallout is clear, with the advent of various factions and a host of ugly and strange monsters surrounding them. Fallout 4 is a giant open-world title that is definitely a time sucker. There are plenty of melee weapons to use for survival, ranged weapons and even power armors.

As one of the survivors, you play and you ride to look for your lost brother (whom was taken by some group). In Fallout 4, there is also this system of bonuses that grants you those talents or abilities.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey by far is the greatest game in the historically-based action RPG, though telling an original tale set in ancient Greece, breathing new life into the 12-year-old franchise.

In presenting players with new gameplay choices, including the ability to knock enemies off 300-style ledges, the game blurs the line between reality and power fantasy even further.

Odyssey is a deliberately balanced combination of confident art direction and technological wizardry in terms of graphics, the result being an immersive open-world experience capable of rivalling The Witcher 3.

Gameplay refinements include more ways to build exclusive lethal/pacifist playstyles while new finisher movements make the war of the series feel more cinematic than ever before.

Bound By Flame

Next Games Like Witcher 3 is Bound by Flame. Another RPG on this page is Bound by Flame and you play as a mercenary, where you have to go against the Ice Lords and the dead force. Your choices in this game will influence how things turn out.

There are skill trees to pick from, like most RPGs, such as flame spells, dual daggers, or heavy weapons. – one has its own pros and cons, and therefore it is up to your gaming style. There are also friends in this game that can fight alongside you.

In an alternative, magical-embedded tale of the 17th century, GreedFall is an indie adventure RPG. In the hope of discovering a cure, players take on the part of De Sardet, a nobleman afflicted by a peculiar family disease, enticing them to escape to a newly-settled magical island.

Players find themselves trapped in the midst of an escalating war between island natives and invading colonists throughout the course of the storey.

The game is completely committed to the independence of the player, encouraging you to side with either faction or to stay neutral until the finish.

While the island of Teer Fradee might not be as large or as spectacular as Witcher 3’s The Mainland, players can still expect to experience plenty of beautiful views and a colorful open-world that develops during the story.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn (HZD), a fairly recent title on this site, is next on a list of games like Witcher 3. You play Aloy in HZD, someone who doesn’t know where she comes from and who her mother is.

She takes the quest to discover the truth, not just about herself and the world that, while being set in the future, looks primitive.

In a very strange ecosystem, this game blends both human tribes and robots and you will meet lots of robots and bandits who are out to destroy you.

In certain areas of the game, the map is very wide and has spectacular scenery. It’s an open-world game you can certainly try out.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Next Games Like Witcher 3 is Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Historically, Monster Hunter games have only drawn a much smaller community; that’s when Capcom wanted to work on streamlining the franchise to draw Western viewers.

Iceborne expands on the Monster Hunter: World base, created with some modern game-changing technologies and strategies, by adding even more QoL enhancements.

The inclusion of small specifics such as monsters collecting scars after each attack during a chase and special arm movements goes a long way in immersing you in the wonderful world of the game.

If you discovered the battle of The Witcher 3 to be its greatest power, you would certainly enjoy mastering the 14 styles of weapons of MH, including swords of all shapes and sizes.

Bloodborne is one such option to Witcher 3. Currently, this game is more equivalent to Dark Souls 3 than it is to Witcher 3.

Another action RPG that has a dark world, like Dark Souls 3, is Bloodborne. Even the monsters or animals are pretty difficult to destroy and in this game you can die sometimes.

In Bloodborne, by selecting a class (aka Origin), you start the game and each class has its own personality. In the game, there is also this notion of “Hunter’s Dream,” which is like a protected place for you to recover yourself.

The drawback is that in the previous map, all the monsters you destroyed are spawned again. Check out Bloodborne, if you enjoy a challenge.

Middle Earth: Shadow of War

Shadow of War is an open-world action RPG and the follow-up to Shadow of Mordor, the Middle Earth of 2014. As Talion, a ranger sharing his body with the spirit of an elf lord with supernatural powers, players reprise their role in it.

The two set out, merging their powers, to forge a mighty ring and to assemble an army of soldiers capable of fighting the wicked Sauron.

Shadow of War draws on its role-playing elements by encouraging players to formulate new tactics for completing quests beyond just hacking and slashing opponents, in addition to expanding on the Nemesis system introduced in the first game.

If you like the free-flowing battle of The Witcher 3, then you would definitely feel right at home cutting apart Orcs and other creatures using the lethal forces of Talion.

Lords Of The Fallen

Next Games Like Witcher 3 is Lords of the Fallen. Lords of the Fallen is another title to try out. The story goes that way. The earth was dominated by evil in the days of the Ancients. The citizens, though, changed from terror to resistance as they began to struggle for their independence.

Humans won the war and the Legion came back from the dark world a thousand years later.

Your job in this match is to go against the Lords of the Fallen. With a fairly awesome melee fighting system, it’s an action RPG. In some cases, you have the option of using weapons or even magic powers.

It is said to be an approximation of Dark Souls, except that, relative to the former, the gameplay is a little sluggish.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a story-driven action RPG set in an open-world mediaeval world full of detailed characters, items and atmosphere with HD textures, and a complex day/night loop.

Henry, the son of a blacksmith who wishes to join a rebellion against attacking raiders after his parents and village are slain, is controlled by players. More commonly, as Emperor Charles IV’s death leads two successors to declare war for the crown, it takes place during the Holy Roman Empire.

Although you won’t encounter any otherworldly creatures or mystical spells, once you make it through the steep learning curve, Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s medieval-based battle can be incredibly satisfying.

Furthermore, the game does a fine job of adapting historical real-world incidents for its plot, something that fans of both The Witcher games and books will enjoy.

Grand Theft Auto V

Next Games Like Witcher 3 is GTA 5. One of the pioneers of the genre of the open world, GTA V is one of the best games ever released on the PS 4.

From primary and side quests to just running around the city doing all kinds of crimes, there are so many things to do in this game.

On the lane, you can rob any car, ride a number of different cars, use all sorts of weapons, break all traffic laws, and even go against the police.

There are plenty of fun mods these days if you’re on the PC, like playing Thanos, Quicksilver, The Hulk, or other characters from various movies or games.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Your typical, run-of-the-mill action game is not Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice. Created and self-published by Ninja Theory, a computer game visionary, the game follows a warrior on a journey to save her dead lover’s soul from the underworld while struggling with a debilitating mental condition that she feels is a curse called “the Darkness.”

This is reminiscent of Geralt’s own attempt to hunt down and get back his lost adopted daughter Ciri in The Witcher 3.

While Hellblade is by no means a role-playing game, players will nevertheless find themselves linked to Senua and sympathize with the decisions she makes over the duration of the 10-hour long tale of the game.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen

Next Games Like Witcher 3 is Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. Dark Arisen Dragon’s Dogma is a published/developed action RPG by Capcom that takes place in a fantasy world similar to The Witcher 3.

You’re playing as the original Emerged hero who’s been charged with slaying a dragon; this is not a regular dragon, though.

It is depicted by folklore as a harbinger of death and the cause of a multitude of mysterious occurrences taking place worldwide.

While the battle of the game has much more depth than the Witcher 3’s, supporting several races, builds, and playstyles of characters, the meat of it all remains based on killing giant monsters.

Try pulling the lever on Dark Arisen if you’ve exhausted all your other fantasy-themed RPG possibilities. For all current-gen platforms, it is available and can typically be picked up on sale for less than half of the maximum price.

Final Fantasy XV

Next Games Like Witcher 3 is Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy XV is the first game in the whole Final Fantasy series in the open world, and for Square Enix, it proved to be a very dangerous move.

Most, like myself, genuinely hated the plot to a certain degree, but it doesn’t erase the fact that it has pretty decent gameplay elements.

You’re acting like a prince who happens to be Noctis and you’re joined by three mates who have their own tasks to support you (e.g. bodyguard).

There are pretty cool monsters to battle in this game, and even one (Adamantoise) that is as gigantic as a freaking building. If not for the plot that was lost, it would have been a huge success.

Vampyr is a Dontnod Entertainment-produced third-person action RPG which retains the prestige of the studio for producing story-driven experiences.

Inside it, you take on the part of Jonathan Reid, a veterinarian who while retaining his respectable career and insatiable lust for blood, is turned into a vampire and finds himself at odds with his newfound abilities.

It is particularly interesting to watch Reid come to terms with his situation and seems reminiscent of Geralt’s own identity struggle as a monster-hunting witcher.

When it comes to its role-playing aspects, Vampyr also does not hold back, presenting players with plenty of dialogue choices, mission completion strategies, and an ability tree that helps you to customize the game to suit your playstyle.
